Description
1908-D Five Dollar, MS64
Lustrous and Appealing
1908-D $5 MS64 NGC. The 1908-D Indian half eagle is the
first-year issue of 148,000 pieces from the Denver branch mint. The
issue is plentiful through MS64, but quickly becomes conditionally
rare in finer grades. Vibrant orange-gold surfaces are layered in
satiny lilac luster for fantastic eye appeal. Abrasions are light
and mild, with slight softness on the lower headdress feathers, as
usual. Die grease in the first L in DOLLAR serves as a pedigree
marker. NGC reports eight numerically finer examples
