    Description

    1908-S Half Eagle, MS62
    CAC-Approved, Prior Generation Holder

1908-S $5 MS62 NGC. CAC. The 1909-O and 1911-D are the only other issues that have lower production totals than the 1908-S (82,200 coins). Overall, this S-mint issue ranks among the more challenging Pratt half eagles, although Mint State examples tend to be more accessible than other San Francisco fives. Strike is a strong suit for the 1908-S, as evidenced by this attractive orange-gold example. Radiantly frosted and showing a normal number of marks for the MS62 grade. Housed in a prior generation holder.(Registry values: N1793)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28DG, PCGS# 8512)

    Weight: 8.36 grams

    Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper

With the superb catalog, a masterwork prepared by Mark Borckhardt, the sale was destined to meet all of my expectations; that it did, and then some. Be assured that I would highly recommend Heritage Auctions to any of my associates contemplating the sale
