Description
1908-S Five Dollar, MS64
Better, Low-Mintage Issue
1908-S $5 MS64 NGC. CAC. The 1908-S is by far the scarcest
of the first-year Indian half eagle issues, boasting a mintage of
just 82,000 coins and a comparably small survival rate in Mint
State. Nonetheless, a moderate percentage of Uncirculated
representatives are fairly high-grade. This Choice example boasts
sharp design elements and frosty, honey-gold luster. The fields are
remarkably well-preserved, showing true near-Gem quality. Census:
49 in 64, 35 finer (11/15).(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28DG, PCGS# 8512, GSID# 9318)
