Description
Surprisingly Elusive Gem BU 1909 Half Eagle
1909 $5 MS65 PCGS. A common P-mint half eagle that is surprisingly elusive above the MS63 tier. This attractive Gem exhibits thick, creamy luster and intricately detailed devices. A candidate for an even finer designation, the orange-gold surfaces are mute on the issue of bagmarks. Only infrequently do we handle a 1909 half eagle in strict Gem condition. Ardent followers of this series would be wise to focus their attention when this specimen crosses the auction block. Housed in an early PCGS holder with a green insert. Population: 74 in 65, 5 finer (7/06).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28DH, PCGS# 8513, Greysheet# 9309)
Weight: 8.36 grams
