    Description

    1909 Half Eagle, MS65
    Sharp, Original Indian Head Gold

1909 $5 MS65 PCGS. While Gem examples of the issue are somewhat available, finer coins are conditionally rare and command large premiums. Specialists in Indian gold are challenged to find an outstanding, original MS65 example as a viable alternative to the next higher grade. This is such a coin, with a bold strike, rich orange-gold color, and bright, frosty luster. The surfaces are nearly mark-free. PCGS has certified just seven numerically finer coins (1/15).(Registry values: N4719)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28DH, PCGS# 8513)

    Weight: 8.36 grams

    Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
