Description

1909-D Half Eagle, MS65
Excellent Indian Head Type Coin

1909-D $5 MS65 PCGS. Ex: Harbor View. The 1909-D is one of the few Indian Head five dollar gold issues that can be found in Gem condition without too much trouble, although such coins remain scarce in terms of the number of pieces extant. Unsurprisingly, anything finer is essentially uncollectible. Mint-green and rose accents blend over satiny, honey-gold surfaces. There are impressively few marks, and the strike is pinpoint-sharp. Die buckling occurs around the edges. PCGS lists five higher grading events (11/18).(Registry values: N4719)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28DJ, PCGS# 8514, Greysheet# 9319)
