Description
Elusive 1909-O Half Eagle, AU53
1909-O $5 AU53 NGC. Dark yellow surfaces have deep olive patina on both sides of this important New Orleans product, surviving from a limited mintage. The strike is sharp with a complete mintmark. Jeff Garrett and Ron Guth write that the 1909-O "has long been considered a key date and is always in feverish demand." We expect that feverish demand when this piece falls to the auctioneer's hammer.(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25ZK, PCGS# 8515, GSID# 9320)
