Description
Key 1909-O Half Eagle, XF40
1909-O $5 XF40 PCGS. Certified in an old-style green-label holder, this key-date coin holds many charms, among them even, moderate wear with few abrasions. Most certified examples range from AU to Choice AU, so this piece is interesting to examine how the wear affects the devices. The color change is obvious on the cheek, the high points of the headdress, the area near the lower rim, and the eagle's highest points on the reverse, and minor buildup appears in some of the crevices. But significant appeal is present, and this coin should find a ready buyer with its good blend of quality and value. The mintmark is clear and bold on this piece, if a bit worn due to its exposed location near the rim.(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25ZK, PCGS# 8515, GSID# 9320)
