Description

1909-S Five Dollar Indian, MS62
Seldom Seen Finer

1909-S $5 MS62 NGC. The 1909-S Indian half eagle is significantly scarcer than its mintage of 297,000 coins would suggest. The date circulated to a moderate extent on the West Coast, and Mint State survivors are seldom offered, especially finer than the current MS62 coin. This piece displays satiny orange-gold surfaces with well-struck design elements. Minor handling marks are all that limit the grade. Census: 70 in 62, 20 finer (6/23).(Registry values: N2998)
