Description
Key 1909-S Indian Five Dollar
Remarkable, High-End MS64
1909-S $5 MS64 PCGS. The 1909-S is one of the keys to the
five dollar Indian series. Plenty were struck, with a mintage just
shy of 300,000 pieces, but survival is the problem. Few high grade
examples are known today. PCGS has only certified 16 examples in
MS64 with four finer, and NGC has graded half that many (8/09).
This is a well-produced issue, with the present piece showing the
usual strong striking details and rich, frosted mint luster. The
surfaces display even reddish-tinted color. This is a remarkably
clean coin, with no singularly mentionable abrasions on either
side.(Registry values: N7079)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25ZL, PCGS# 8516, Greysheet# 9321)
