Description
Impressive Gem 1911 Half Eagle
1911 $5 MS65 PCGS. CAC. Garrett and Guth (2006) note about this higher-mintage Indian half eagle issue: "Although available in gem condition, these coins are by no means inexpensive in this lofty state of preservation." We are confident, however, that the winning bidder will find this MS65 example worth the money. Strong luster swirls on primarily wheat-gold surfaces that also show prominent blushes of peach and rose. Attractively preserved with decidedly above-average detail on the portrait's headdress and necklace. Effectively unavailable any finer, as PCGS has graded just one coin as better than Gem (8/10).(Registry values: N7079)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28DP, PCGS# 8520, Greysheet# 9311)
Weight: 8.36 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
