Description
1911-S Indian Half Eagle, MS65
Rare Condition Census Example
1911-S $5 MS65 PCGS. This is an exemplary Gem example of the
difficult 1911-S Indian half eagle. The fields are remarkably
smooth, yielding a hint of lilac around the borders with
orange-gold interiors and subtle iridescence. A sharp strike
prevails throughout each side, adding to the visual appeal. The 1911-S boasts a mintage of more than 1.4 million coins, however, Uncirculated survivors are much more elusive than that production figure would suggest, and most are in MS63 or lower grades. Choice pieces are scarce, and Gems are rare. Only one coin is numerically finer than the present at either service. Population: 8 in 65 (2 in 65+), 1 finer (11/24).(Registry values: N7079)
