Description
Pleasing Gem 1912 Indian Five
None Finer at PCGS
1912 $5 MS65 PCGS. Fortunately for collectors of this
series, the P-mint issues of 1911, 1912, and 1913 share
similarities in mintages, survivorship, and production quality that
make them not only numerically available for a price in Gem
condition, but aesthetically pleasing when they are encountered in
such condition. Their overall good production characteristics
include generally sharp strikes and abundant eye appeal, with
surfaces that are usually yellow-gold with a hint of green. The
present piece offers a more golden-orange color that is especially
pleasing, with generous luster over the mattelike surfaces and a
remarkable absence of singular abrasions. Population: 41 in 65, 0
finer (7/07).From The Jim O'Neal Collection of Indian Half Eagles.(Registry values: N4719)
Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28DS, PCGS# 8523, Greysheet# 9312)
