Description
Important Gem 1915 Half Eagle
No Numerically Finer Examples
1915 $5 MS65 NGC. There are no MS66 examples of this issue
in the combined certified population (9/11), and this Gem
representative of the 1915 half eagle ranks as conditionally scarce
in its condition. Warmly lustrous surfaces shift from light
yellow-gold to pale orange as the coin is tilted in the light. The
strike is crisp, including complete outlines of the three pendants
in the necklace, and the overall preservation is as stunning as the
eye appeal. The 1915 would be the last half eagle issue struck at
Philadelphia until 1929, and only the 1916-S issue comes between
the two dates.(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28DX, PCGS# 8530, Greysheet# 9315)
Weight: 8.36 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
