Description
Condition Rarity 1915 Half Eagle, MS65
1915 $5 MS65 PCGS. The 1915 Indian Head half eagle claims a large mintage of 588,000 pieces, and the date is not difficult to locate in lower Mint State grades. The issue is a condition rarity, however, and Gem Mint State examples are quite scarce. Improving on a nice MS65 coin, like the present specimen, is virtually impossible, as no coins have been certified in higher numeric grades by either of the leading grading services (9/10).The coin offered here is a splendid Gem, with vivid orange-gold surfaces, highlighted by strong hints of red. The strike is exemplary, with fine detail on the headdress feathers and the eagle's leg. Mint luster is strong and vibrant, and eye appeal is outstanding.(Registry values: N4719)
