    Description

    Scarce 1909-O Five Dollar, AU53
Final Year of Issue From the New Orleans Mint

1909-O $5 AU53 ANACS. In the case of the 1909-O five, the low mintage of 34,200 pieces does correlate to the scarcity of this issue. That is often not the case, as most collectors are aware, but apparently at the time of issue few people cared enough about mintmarks to set aside this issue in high grade. The underlying brightness of this coin is muted by reddish patina over most of each side. Minimally abraded.(Registry values: N2998)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25ZK, PCGS# 8515)

    Weight: 8.36 grams

    Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
