Description

Smooth Gem 1908 Indian Two and a Half

1908 $2 1/2 MS65 NGC. A gorgeous sun-gold representative of this first-year issue. The strike is essentially full, and both sides are beautifully preserved despite faint marks near the IB in LIBERTY. It is difficult to believe today that the Indian quarter eagle was often criticized by numismatists of the day, who incorrectly believed that the sunken-relief design would harbor germs.(Registry values: N2998)
