Description
Attractive 1908 Quarter Eagle, MS66
An Excellent Type Example
1908 $2 1/2 MS66 PCGS. The year 1908 marks the first year of
the Indian Head quarter eagle series. Its mintage of more than
one-half million pieces and its relatively high survival rate make
it a popular coin for type purposes. Even Gem examples can be
located with a bit of patience and searching. The issue becomes
scarce in MS66 and is seen only infrequently any finer. The lustrous surfaces of this Premium Gem are endowed with pretty orange-gold and mint-green patina. A well executed strike imparts sharp definition to the design elements, the sole exception being the typical softness on the eagle's shoulder. A few minute reverse field marks are within the parameters of the designated grade. Population: 87 in 66, 2 finer (2/10).
