Pristine Gem 1909 Quarter Eagle
Superlative Type Coin
1909 $2 1/2 MS65 NGC. CAC. Gem Indian quarter eagles of any
date are rare, but the 1909 at this level is much rarer than the
later P-mint issues such as 1926 though 1928. The certified
populations plummet past the MS65 grade. This specimen displays
rich, mattelike orange-gold surfaces that are exceptionally
pristine, even on the Indian's cheek and in the exposed fields on
the reverse. The strike is equally flawless. NGC has certified 16
pieces finer (8/10). A superlative pick for a type or complete
set.(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 288Z, PCGS# 7940, GSID# 8604)
