Remarkable, Fully Struck 1909
Indian Quarter Eagle, MS66
1909 $2 1/2 MS66 PCGS. The 1909 quarter eagle is an
underrated issue in any Mint State grade compared to later entries
in the series, and at the Premium Gem level of the present coin, it
is a major rarity, tied for the top Condition Census spot with a
couple of dozen other coins. Neither PCGS nor NGC has ever
certified an example finer. This piece, housed in a green-label
PCGS holder, displays the rich deep reddish-gold coloration that
collectors prize in these coins. The surfaces are ablaze with
intense eye appeal. The strike is an amazing full one, and there
are simply no relevant marks on this remarkable coin. Population:
16 in 66, 0 finer (8/10).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 288Z, PCGS# 7940, GSID# 8604)
