    Satiny MS66 1909 Quarter Eagle
    Ex: The Shrike Set

1909 $2 1/2 MS66 PCGS. Ex: The Shrike Set. This magnificent example comes from the same collection as the Registry set, The Shrike Set of $2 1/2 Indians, offered by Heritage in the September 2011 Long Beach U.S. Coin auction. It is also every bit the equal of the Premium Gem 1909 quarter eagle that was part of the offered set. A subtle rose overtone graces the obverse, while the reverse shares in the other side's warm sun-orange color. Shimmering satin surfaces are magnificently preserved and undeniably appealing. One of 16 MS66 examples certified by PCGS with none numerically finer (8/11).(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 288Z, PCGS# 7940)

    Weight: 4.18 grams

    Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper

Due completely to Heritage's thoroughly diligent and professional management and promotion of the collection, the faraday Collection stirred national attention among numismatists and the auction results brought a gross value greater than that last estimated by the experienced collector.
