    1911 Two and a Half, MS66
    A Condition Census Rarity
    Few Ever Auctioned So Fine

1911 $2 1/2 MS66 NGC. Most of the Indian quarter eagles known in MS66 are dated 1908 or 1925-D. The 1911, along with many other issues, is a grand rarity in such fine condition. This is a Condition Census example. NGC reports just seven other MS66 pieces (one of which is Star-designated) and PCGS lists only one; neither service reports a finer coin (3/19). This example represents possibly the single most important opportunity for Registry Set collectors of this sale. The NGC Set Registry lists some 534 Indian quarter eagle circulation strike sets. The highest-ranked of these almost all share a common denominator: they contain a 1911 in MS66. Top-grade examples of this issue are synonymous with top-tier quality in the NGC Set Registry. The present example offers glistening satin luster and original honey-gold color. The strike is sharp, and the preservation is, in a word: exceptional.(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 7KR6, PCGS# 7942)
