Lustrous 1911-D Quarter Eagle, Bold Mintmark, MS62

1911-D $2 1/2 MS62 NGC. The key-date 1911-D Indian quarter eagle is always a crowd pleaser, and it is one of our favorites, from a mintage of only 55,600 coins. Nearly all surviving examples grade below Mint State, with an average certified grade of just AU57. The present example is so much finer, with full satin luster and a bold, nearly full strike. The mintmark is fully visible, unlike many of the so-called Weak Mintmark examples. Both sides have brilliant light yellow-gold surfaces with exceptional aesthetic appeal. Our sales, including the present sale, frequently offer multiple 1911-D quarter eagles to provide collectors with a choice, and they always find a ready market.(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 7KR7, PCGS# 7943)
