    Handsome Select 1911-D Quarter Eagle

1911-D $2 1/2 MS63 NGC. Upon perusal of the mintages for the Indian Quarter Eagle series, one issue clearly stands out. The 1911-D has less than one-tenth the production of its Philadelphia Mint counterpart, and in fact, its nearest competitor, the 1914, has a mintage more than four times that of the 1911-D. It is not surprising, then, that the 1911-D has long been regarded as the key to the series, and it commands a resounding premium across all grades. Most survivors show highpoint wear and are abraded. However, the current example has a radiant, freshly minted appearance, and contact is very minimal. It would be the unquestioned centerpiece to a Select set of the series.(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 7KR7, PCGS# 7943)
