Select Mint State 1911-D Quarter Eagle
    Famed Five-Figure Mintage

1911-D $2 1/2 MS63 PCGS. CAC. The 1911-D quarter eagle is a famous prize in its series regardless of grade. While many collectors will accept an XF or AU example in an otherwise Mint State set, this Select piece should appeal to those set-finishers who would prefer not to compromise on quality. The overall detail on the figures is strong, as only the lowest pendant on the necklace shows appreciable weakness. Broadly shimmering luster is yellow-to-orange with a peach tinge in the fields and a small coppery area at the portrait's cheekbone. Scattered light abrasions determine the grade but have scant effect on the all-around eye appeal.(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 7KR7, PCGS# 7943)
