    Description

    1911-D Two and a Half, MS63
    Sharply Defined Throughout

1911-D $2 1/2 MS63 PCGS. The price of gold goes up, the price of gold does down. Even though September 2011 saw a memorable steep selloff in gold and silver as well as many basic industrial metals, the lower price of gold made most of the issues in the Indian Head quarter eagle series even more collectible than previously. Save for the key 1911-D quarter eagle, most of the other pieces can be acquired in AU or thereabouts for relatively modest premiums over spot gold. But as the saying goes, "Buy the keys first" -- the 1911-D, in this case. This is a well-preserved example that displays bright, sparkling luster. The strike is sharp throughout, including the mintmark. The yellow-gold surfaces has occasional accents of reddish patina, most noticeable surrounding the devices.(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 7KR7, PCGS# 7943)
