    Description

Very Scarce Near-Gem 1911-D Quarter Eagle

1911-D $2 1/2 MS64 NGC. The 1911-D has an impressively low mintage of only 55,680 pieces, and it is the undisputed key to the Indian quarter eagle series. This is a lovely, high grade example that shows the diagnostic wire rim around the right side of the obverse. The surfaces are exceptionally clean with the only grade-limiting abrasion located on the highpoint of the Indian's cheek. Fully struck throughout, each side has an overlay of rich reddish patina with strong underlying satin luster. (#7943) (Registry values: P3, N15940) (NGC ID# 7KR7, PCGS# 7943)

    Weight: 4.18 grams

    Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
