    Description

    1911-D Quarter Eagle, MS64
Strong D, Singular Key to the Series

1911-D $2 1/2 MS64 PCGS Gold Shield. Strong D. No other Indian Head quarter eagle comes close to challenging the 1911-D for top spot in the series. The issue's mintage of 55,680 pieces is less than 25% of the next-lowest production total, claimed by the 1914. As such, there is always plenty of demand for the 1911-D across all grades. Although the date is available in the absolute sense, supply is never enough to meet demand. Anything finer than this near-Gem is truly scarce.

The mintmark is fully and completely rendered on this lustrous Choice Uncirculated key date. The Indian's portrait and the eagle display similarly strong detail. Medium yellow-gold surfaces are well-preserved and show a couple of small marks in the upper reverse field. PCGS has only graded 26 numerically higher submissions (12/18).(Registry values: N7079) (NGC ID# 7KR7, PCGS# 7943)

    Weight: 4.18 grams
