    Description

    Frosty, Near-Gem 1911-D Quarter Eagle

1911-D $2 1/2 MS64 PCGS. The '11-D is the key-date to the Indian Quarter Eagle series, and is elusive in all grades. Choice Mint State coins are infrequently seen, and you can forget about Gems, as they are almost non-existent. This example is very sharply struck, and the mintmark is as bold as we have recently seen. The vast majority of examples have a nearly invisible mintmark, so the bold mintmark is an extremely important consideration. Everyone who specializes in this series is aware of the rarity and importance of this issue in Choice Mint State condition. The surfaces have the typical slightly granular appearance of all genuine 1911-D quarter eagles, with frosty orange-gold luster and excellent eye appeal.(Registry values: N7079) (NGC ID# 7KR7, PCGS# 7943)

    Weight: 4.18 grams
