    1911-D Quarter Eagle, MS64+
    Sharply Defined Series Key
    With CAC Approval

1911-D $2 1/2 Strong D MS64+ PCGS. CAC. Ex: Big Sky Collection. The lustrous surfaces of this high-end near-Gem key-date representative display light orange-gold color imbued with soft greenish tints. The design elements are sharply defined, including the D mintmark, designated Strong D on the PCGS label. A few trivial marks, mostly in the upper-right reverse field, do not detract. The above-average eye appeal is aptly recognized by CAC.

Population Data (9/15): PCGS reports 16 1911-D quarter eagles in MS64+ and 24 submissions finer. NGC shows two pieces in MS64+ and 79 finer. CAC, ignoring the Plus designation, has given the green approval to 69 in MS64 and only nine finer -- eight MS65 and one MS66.

Heritage Commentary: The 1911-D has the lowest mintage (55,680 pieces) in the Indian Head quarter eagle series and is the most desirable. The present MS64+ offering is the highest grade that is likely to be encountered by most collectors.

Provenance: Purchased from Legend Numismatics (4/2012).(Registry values: N7079)
