    1912 Quarter Eagle, Well-Preserved MS65
    Very Rare in Higher Grades

1912 $2 1/2 MS65 PCGS. CAC. Ex: Big Sky Collection. Deep orange-gold patination is laced with whispers of apricot. The design elements are sharply impressed, including the headdress feathers and the eagle's plumage. Lustrous surfaces reveal a few minute, scattered marks, none deserving individual attention.

Population Data (9/15): PCGS reports 74 submissions in MS65 (one MS65) and five finer, while NGC shows 67 in MS65 and two finer. The present example is among seven Gem 1912 quarter eagles endorsed by CAC.

Heritage Commentary: The 1912 quarter eagle can be obtained through near-Gem with little difficulty. The certified population declines significantly at the MS65 level, the highest grade that most collectors are likely to encounter. Indian Head quarter specialists will find this Gem offering to be an excellent choice for a high-grade collection.

    Provenance: Purchased from Legend Numismatics (4/2012).(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 7KR8, PCGS# 7944)

    Weight: 4.18 grams
