    1913 Quarter Eagle, Pleasing MS65
    Extremely Rare Any Finer

1913 $2 1/2 MS65 PCGS. CAC. Ex: Big Sky Collection. The lustrous yellow-gold surfaces of this pleasing Gem are laced with hints of mint-green and exhibit sharply struck design elements throughout. Both sides have been well-cared for, and neither possesses the Mint-made spots that occasionally occur on this issue.

Population Data (9/15): PCGS and NGC report only seven and six submissions, respectively, finer than this Gem.

Heritage Commentary: The 1913 has the highest mintage in the Indian Head quarter eagle series, struck to the extent of 722,000 pieces, but most survive in the lower reaches of Mint State, usually MS60 to MS63. Gems are elusive and the highest grade likely to be found. Premium Gems are extremely rare.

Provenance: Purchased from Legend Numismatics (4/2012).(Registry values: N4719)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2897, PCGS# 7945)

    Weight: 4.18 grams
