Gem 1914 Quarter Eagle, Conditional Rarity
In the Same Class With the 1911-D

1914 $2 1/2 MS65 PCGS. One of the most elusive and in-demand issues overall in the Pratt quarter eagle series save for the 1911-D, the 1914 is seldom seen in Gem or finer condition, where it is about as rare as the 1911-D. The present Gem exhibits engaging luster over well-struck surfaces with deep orange-red color interspersed with significant portions of lilac, and the surfaces are notable for their lack of mentionable marks. The Indian's cheek is clean, and the details of the headdress and necklace are well-struck throughout. Note how well-detailed the eagle's feathers are on the reverse. Series specialists will find this a highly commendable example of the issue. Population: 51 in 65 (1 in 65+), 3 finer (10/12).(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 7KRA, PCGS# 7946)

    Weight: 4.18 grams

    Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
