    Well-Defined 1914-D Gem Quarter Eagle
    Nearly Unobtainable Any Finer

1914-D $2 1/2 MS65 NGC. The present 1914-D quarter eagle Gem offering is a special coin in the current sale because it is the highest grade that most collectors can hope to locate of this issue. NGC has certified just one example finer (a Superb Gem in MS67) and PCGS has graded none better than MS65.
Frosty vibrant luster runs over both sides, each of which displays yellow-gold coloration. The design features are better defined than typically seen on the issue, including the Indian's headdress feathers and the eagle's leg and wing feathers, the elements of which are often weak. The eagle's shoulder feathers are also sharp. A few minute abrasions are consistent with the grade classification, and a couple small splashes of light reddish patina are visible on the obverse.(Registry values: N7079) (NGC ID# 2899, PCGS# 7947)
