    Description

    1914-D Indian Quarter Eagle, MS65+
    Only One Finer Certified

1914-D $2 1/2 MS65+ NGC. The 1914-D Indian quarter eagle claims a mintage of 448,000 pieces and the issue is not difficult to locate in lower Mint State grades, but it is the leading condition rarity of the series in grades above the MS65 level. The 1914-D was not a well-produced issue, and is frequently seen with a soft strike and excessive die buckling. This Plus-graded Gem exhibits unusually sharp definition on all design elements, but evidence of die buckling shows on both sides, leaving a "creased" mintmark on the reverse. The well-preserved copper-gold surfaces radiate vibrant mint luster, with outstanding eye appeal. Only one finer coin appears in the population data from either of the leading grading services. Census: 48 in 65 (2 in 65+), 1 finer (6/19).(Registry values: N7079) (NGC ID# 2899, PCGS# 7947)

    Weight: 4.18 grams

    Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
