    Description

    1914-D Indian Quarter Eagle, MS65
    Underrated Issue in Gem Condition

1914-D $2 1/2 MS65 PCGS. The 1914-D quarter eagle in Gem condition is an extremely rare and still quite underrated issue in the series. The date is one that Michael Fuljenz ranks in the first-place spot in Gem condition, even besting the 1911-D, and the third rarest series issue overall. The present Gem PCGS specimen has much to commend itself. Splendid, swirling mint luster radiates from surfaces that are fully frosted throughout. The fields are remarkably clean for the reduced relief type. The strike is sharp overall, with the sole exception of the lowest headdress feather. The coloration is a nice, original medium copper-gold, and contact marks above the minuscule range are simply a nonissue. Population: 49 in 65, 0 finer (10/15).
