Description
1913 Two and a Half, MS66
Tied for Finest Certified, Sole Finest at CAC
Ex: Dr. Thaine B. Price
1913 $2 1/2 MS66 PCGS. CAC. Ex: Price. The 1913 Indian
quarter eagle is available in lower grades, but at the Premium Gem
level it is conditionally rare. This is the former Dr. Price
specimen. It is among 15 pieces at the MS66 numeric level with none
in MS67, and it is the only example in this top grade with CAC
endorsement (5/22). From a technical perspective, this piece is as
flawless as we have ever seen on a 1913 quarter eagle. Blond-gold
luster glistens like frost across well-struck design elements and
truly pristine fields. Not even a single abrasion is worthy of
note. As David Akers wrote in the Price catalog, "From an overall
eye appeal standpoint, this coin is first-rate in all respects."
Population: 10 in 66 (1 in 66+), 0 finer. CAC: 1 in 66, 0 finer
(5/22).Ex: Dr. Thaine B. Price Collection (Akers, 5/1998), lot 7.
