Description
Seldom-Seen 8 Doppie of Parma
Parma. Ferdinando di Borbone (Duke, 1765-1802) gold 8 Doppie
1786-S MS61 NGC, KM-C22a (Rare), Fr-926, CNI-63, MIR-1057/1.
56.91gm. Giuseppe Siliprandi, Moneyer 1784-1787. Extremely rare
type struck to the weight of 16 Ducati. Weighing in at almost 60
grams, this large gold type from Parma feels heavy in hand. This
heft adds to its visual appeal, as the larger-than-usual devices
are crisply rendered, offering a wonderful clarity to the overall
presentation. Trivial evidence of handling is visible in the
fields, which limits the grade, yet this chunky coin is bound to
impress.Ex. Adolph Hess (Bank Leu, Muenzen - Medaillen Auction, Luzern, October 1961, Lot 293).
