Umberto I gold 100 Lire 1883-R MS61 PCGS, Rome mint, KM22, Mont-3, Gig-3. A generally fleeting type, struck to a tiny mintage figure of only 4,219 pieces, this representative presents a clear sheen of watery luster beneath a scattering of bagmarks in the fields. Generally not encountered in Mint State due to its natural heft and the softness of the metal, we would note that the highest numerical grade awarded by PCGS is only an MS63.Note for clients in the European Union: This lot is considered by the European Union to be “investment gold”. We believe that it meets the criteria established in Article 344(1), point (2) of Council Directive 2006/112/EC and thus should be exempt from import VAT regardless of the selling price.
