    Description

Amazing Proof Gold 10 Yen Rarity Meiji 13 (1880)

Meiji Proof gold 10 Yen Year 13 (1880), KM-Y12a, JNDA 1-2, J&V M4, PF63 NGC. Another of the exceedingly rare (136 pieces) Meiji 13 gold issues struck only for the presentation sets. Very wide rims, with sharp squared edges, flawless strike, minimally marked surfaces, and fully mirrored fields. Nice orange-golden color, with light die polishing marks noted, if one looks closely. A spectacular example of this historic issue. Probably, no more than 4-5 pieces known. We can find no offerings since the Pittman sale example, in 1999, that sold for $109,250.
