Description

Meiji Yen Year 3 (1870) MS65 PCGS, Osaka mint, KM-Y5.1, JNDA 01-9. Type 1, with border variety. This example impresses the longer that one holds it in hand as the volcanic eruption of color oozes a beguiling charm that begins to stand out more than the charcoal patina. Close inspection reveals further mysteries, including a die break at 12 o'clock on the obverse. An utterly unique specimen that warrants a premium bid as this will be a showpiece in the most serious of Yen series.
