Description
1938 Jefferson Nickel, MS67 Full Steps
FS-1105, Quadrupled Die Obverse
The Single Finest Certified
1938 5C Quadrupled Die Obverse, FS-1105, MS67 Full Steps PCGS
Secure. Ex: Steve Strom Collection. One of two 1938 Jefferson
nickel varieties in the Complete Varieties Set Registry, FS-1105 is
characterized by quadrupled obverse lettering, clearly visible at
the serifs upon study with a loupe. The 1938 is by itself a
condition rarity in Superb Gem Full Steps, and the present coin
ranks as the only so-graded FS-1105 representative (11/15). This is
a truly impressive coin, fully struck and almost perfectly
preserved. Monticello and the portrait are devoid of the oft-seen
debris marks, and the luminous surfaces yield soft lavender-blue
and champagne hues. The steps are wavy, as is diagnostic of the
1938 reverse, but are complete. From The Steve Strom Collection.
