Description
1939 Jefferson Nickel, MS67
FS-801, Doubled Monticello
1939 5C Doubled Monticello, FS-801, MS67 PCGS. A seemingly
pristine Superb Gem, this representative boasts smooth, satiny
luster in shades of ice-blue and pale champagne toning. While not
quite worthy of a Full Steps designation, this coin is nonetheless
an important piece for the advanced collector due to its ranking as
one just seven examples of the Double Monticello variety certified
by PCGS at the MS67 grade level (1 in 67+), with none finer (9/14).
This ranking trumps all PCGS-certified Full Steps examples from a
numeric standpoint, as the finest of those is a sole MS66+ coin.
This piece will please many condition-conscious collectors.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 22T8, Variety PCGS# 38481, Base PCGS# 4004)
