Description

1939 5C Doubled Monticello, FS-801, MS67 PCGS. Strong doubling on MONTICELLO and FIVE CENTS provides immediate identification of the FS-801 variety -- a key Guide Book variety in the series, and eagerly sought by all Jefferson nickel collectors. Rare in Mint State grades, this Superb Gem example is numerically unsurpassed at either service. The lustrous, gleaming surfaces are sharply struck, with sharp definition on Jefferson's uppermost hair strands. The finely grained surfaces show virtually no marks of any consequence. Population: 11 in 67 (2 in 67+), 0 finer (4/19).
