    1939 Reverse of 1940 Nickel
MS68 Full Steps, a Registry Trump

1939 5C Reverse of 1940 MS68 Full Steps PCGS. The Reverse of 1940 Jefferson nickels dated 1939 are noted for their strong, straight steps, though usually they are not this strong and straight. For that matter, the preservation on this example is unprecedented, as neither NGC nor PCGS has acknowledged another MS68 Full Steps example of this issue (1/14). Captivating colors, among them ice-blue, violet, peach, and gold, enrich softly lustrous surfaces that exhibit a degree of die flow near the rims. While a collector looking for marks under a glass will find them, only a couple of tiny reverse disturbances are visible to the unaided eye.(Registry values: P5)
