Description

1940-S Jefferson Nickel, MS67+ Full Steps
Unblemished Surfaces, Colorful Toning

1940-S 5C MS67+ Full Steps PCGS. Struck from recently polished dies, the fields show ultra-smooth surfaces and strong reflectivity. The strike on Jefferson's portrait is sharp, and nearly 6 Full Steps are visible on the reverse, although some architectural features on Monticello are slightly blended. Any marks are microscopic and do not distract. Visually, the coin is everything a high-end Superb Gem should be, with golden iridescence and pale blue colors flashing amid bright mint luster. It is the sole PCGS Plus-graded coin at this level, and no coin is numerically finer at either service. PCGS population: 12 in 67 (1 in 67+) Full Steps, 0 finer (5/15).(Registry values: N991)
