1944-D 5C MS68 Full Steps PCGS. The steps leading to the porch of Monticello are intact on this Wartime Jefferson nickel. PCGS has certified eight silver nickels in MS68 Full Steps, with none finer (1/14). Those eight include 1943-P, 1943-D (3), 1944-D (3), and 1945-D. This is the first PCGS example at this grade level that we have ever offered, an exceptional opportunity for the advanced Registry collector. The present piece has five bold steps on the reverse. Both sides have exceptional, frosty silver luster with delicate champagne toning, displaying accents of lilac and powder-blue toning.(Registry values: N991)
