Description

1954-S/D 5C FS-501 MS66 PCGS. Ex: Steve Strom Collection. The previous D is clearly visible at the bottom of the S, despite moderate die erosion in the fields. The strike is typical for this issue with indistinct central details, especially on the reverse. Specialists will recognize that fully struck examples of this variety are essentially non-existent, as indicated by a complete absence of Full Steps coins on both the PCGS and NGC population reports. This piece is fully brilliant and highly lustrous with lovely gold toning on both sides. Population: 4 in 66, 0 finer (11/15).
Ex: Denver Signature (Heritage, 8/2006), lot 7630; Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 5/2007), lot 619.
From The Steve Strom Collection.
