1955-D/S 5C MS66 PCGS. FS-501. The San Francisco Mint ceased coinage in 1955. Leftover mintmarked nickel dies were overmintmarked and dispatched to Denver. FS-501 is the most prominent variety among those, since it shows the curve of the S within the D. It is the die variety listed in the Guide Book. Lustrous and essentially immaculate with light straw-gold toning and a typical strike.(Registry values: P1)
