Description

1962 Nickel, MS67+ Full Steps
Sole Finest at PCGS

1962 5C MS67+ Full Steps PCGS. The 1962 date is not a particularly noteworthy issue within the long-running Jefferson nickel series. Struck to the extent of nearly 100 million pieces, the 1962 is often (and understandably, given the mass-production strikes of the time and place) seen with die erosion. This piece is not an exception, as die flow lines appear on both sides, more prominently on the reverse, where they show both in the fields and on Monticello. However, this piece shows a no-questions five-full-step strike on the reverse, apparently at the expense of the hair near Jefferson's ear. Generous luster prevails over lovely surfaces with pale jade, gold, and pink hues. Two small nicks on Jefferson require a loupe to see. This is the sole finest of this issue graded at PCGS. Population: 1 in 67 Full Steps, 1 in 67+ Full Steps, 0 finer (6/13).(Registry values: P1)
